Is Japanese so difficult often?
Today, I watched a Japanese speech contest on youtube.
A woman freigner had been speaking in Japanese.
She has studied Japanese for three years in university and came to Japan.
I’m not sure where she was from.
She had been talking about her experience in Japan.
When she had a part-time job in convenience store in Japan, she asked a customer "Could I put a good in the bag?" the customer answered "あ、いいです", so she tried to put it in the bag.
Then the customer said "いいですって言ってるでしょ".
The customer looked angry.
She had learnt that "いい" meant "yes", but the customer had meant "no".
She asked a customer the same question on another day.
The customer answered "いいですよ", so she didn't put a goods in the bag.
And then the customer said "え、入れてください."
So, the customer meant "yes".
Another day, when she went to a clothes store with her Japanese friiend.
She asked her friends "Is this good on me?"
Her friend answered "いいよ".
She asked "how about this?"
Her friends "いい", "いいんじゃない".
She said "which is the best?"
She seemed confused
What do you think of this experience?
日本語は、やっぱり難しいですか?
